Special Education

 Pre-School

Extensive research underscores the significance of the initial five years in a child's life, as this period profoundly influences all subsequent aspects of growth and development. Acknowledging this, Al Shurooq School has introduced a specialized program to integrate preschool-aged blind or visually impaired children into a standard curriculum.

Preschool-phase children are notably characterized by their heightened levels of dependency. Furthermore, a portion of this demographic is diagnosed with multiple disabilities (MDVI).

In addition to a standard academic curriculum, the Al Shurooq preschool program includes essential lessons in orientation and mobility, equipping students with the skills needed to comprehend and navigate their physical environment effectively.

Furthermore, the curriculum explores fundamental concepts such as size (big and little), similarities and differences, prepositions (over, under, in, out, behind), shapes, and numerical concepts. These concepts are introduced using concrete objects or manipulatives, serving as alternatives to traditional visual tools, ensuring a comprehensive and accessible educational experience for our students.
