NSFVH History

The National Society for the Visually Handicapped (NSFVH) is a registered charity established in 1962 in East Jerusalem to promote and protect the educational, vocational, cultural, social, and economic standards for the blind and visually impaired.


In alignment with the Palestinian Law of Charitable Societies and Non-Governmental Organizations, the society earned registration with the Palestinian Ministry of Interior on May 3, 2004, bearing the reference number BL-391-C.


At its inception, the society's primary objective was to produce books in Arabic and English Braille, thus pioneering the establishment of the first-ever library of Arabic Braille books in the Middle East. While regional conflicts disrupted the provision of these services to other Arab countries, the Braille book production unit and library continued to grow.
